We are excited to announce a new volunteer opportunity at OCH! Our youth's safety, confidentiality, and wellbeing are our top priorities. So, it is very rare that we offer a volunteer opportunity with direct client contact. After much consideration, we knew now was the right time to turn to you, our community.
The Hospital Sit When OCH youth experience psychological distress, sometimes hospitalization is necessary. Unfortunately, there are not always beds immediately available at in-patient providers, leaving the youth to wait at the hospital for a space to open up. Many hospitals require an adult to sit with the youth at the hospital 24/7; the youth could be waiting for up to, and at times beyond,1 week. We are looking for individuals 21+ years of age, who are willing to go through a background check and training, and are comfortable sitting with youth for at least 4 hours while they wait at the hospital. Either in the ER or the mental and behavioral health ward. Please fill out our short form at the button below to start supporting youth in their toughest moments. |
